My Commitment to Elkridge

I will fight for the people of Elkridge to ensure they are no longer treated as a piggy bank for the county. Elkridge history should be preserved and uplifted, and the  community deserves the same equitable resources as the rest of the county: a high school, a pool, walkability, and safer roads.

Ensure the Next High School is Built in Elkridge

The next major high school building project for HCPSS will be a high school in Elkridge. I will make it a top priority for the HCPSS Capital Improvement Plan to commit to the high school, with a firm opening date, and I will do my utmost to ensure that date does not slip once we access the state money to build it.

Elkridge Community Center

Elkridge knows far too well that without a champion for their public facilities, funding will get cut. I will ensure that all phases of the Elkridge Community Center are funded and completed promptly, and that a pool is included in those plans.

Comprehensive Rezoning

Elkridge will no longer be used as a dumping ground for density and profits for developers. I will not support additional density or redevelopment within historic districts, survey areas, or environmentally sensitive regions. I will fight to protect and strengthen historic communities, and always put people over profits.

Equitable Investment

Elkridge is one of the fastest growing communities in our county, and is too often the one left behind. I will not allow that to continue. Elkridge deserves county-funded amenities, services, and investments comparable to similar communities for its existing residents before I will support adding more residential development. As the next D1 councilmember, I will ensure that the Council does not continue to pack Route 1 without catching Elkridge up to the rest of the county.

Protect and Highlight the Amazing History and Heritage of Elkridge

Elkridge contains rich, historic landmarks that deserve uplifting. My top priorities include ensuring the Brumbaugh House's continual success, rehabilitating neglected county-owned properties like Troy and Rockburn Parks, ensuring community input is upheld in the Elkridge Sustainable Community Plan, and working toward climate mitigation and upstream accountability to ensure that our historic places are not ravaged by floods due to unrestrained clear cutting of our precious green spaces.

Transit and Public Safety

Elkridge deserves increased buses, bicycling lanes, and pedestrian safety to connect it to its neighbors and to the rest of the county. Public transit is one of the best ways to support economic growth and I will fight to ensure Elkridge is connected to the rest of Howard County.
